EDDIE ANGEL INTERVIEW

Eddie Angel Interview

(Originally aired on February 7, 2013)

Wherever Los Straitjackets take the stage in their colorful Mexican wrestling masks, Aztec medallions, dark suits, and skinny black ties, the audience knows they're in for a real treat. Drawing on the sounds of surf, spaghetti Western, space, and spy music, the band plays twangy instrumentals written around the twin-guitar attack of Daddy-O Grande (Danny Amis) and Eddie Angel.

In 1995, the quartet released their debut album, The Utterly Fantastic and Totally Unbelievable Sound of Los Straitjackets, and since then have produced a dozen rollicking studio albums, as well as several live recordings. Los Straitjackets' new album is Jet Set, and in our exclusive interview, Eddie Angel describes tracking this music and reveals what it was like to work with producer Janne Haavisto from Finlandís legendary Laika and the Cosmonauts. We'll hear selections from Jet Set throughout the interview.
