JON HERINGTON INTERVIEW

Jon Herington Interview

(Originally aired on June 13, 2013)

Jon Herington is one of the very rare guitarists who has the skill and savvy to accompany top artists in the studio and onstage, and then turn around and deliver personal, fully formed music as a solo artist. Herington plays lead guitar for Steely Dan and The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue (featuring Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs, and Michael McDonald). His credits include Bette Midler, Phoebe Snow, Madeleine Peyroux, jazz saxophonist Bill Evans, and jazz/blues organ great Jack McDuff.

Herington's new album, Time On My Hands, is a superb blend of canny songwriting, blazing guitar, and compelling arrangements. In our exclusive interview, he takes us deep into his creative process and describes how he got his cool guitar sounds. We'll hear selections from Time On My Hands throughout the interview.
