For fans of psychedelic guitar and ’60s rock, Jorma Kaukonen needs no introduction. As a founding member of the Jefferson Airplane, he helped create and spread the sounds of San Francisco’s “Summer of Love” to audiences around the world.


In this interview, recorded by Andy Ellis at Nashville’s City Winery, Kaukonen explains how he approached recording his latest album, Ain't In No Hurry, and what it was like to work with producer Larry Campbell. Kaukonen also reveals lessons he learned from Jerry Garcia and Michael Bloomfield, and explores his five-decade musical partnership with the legendary bassist Jack Casady, with whom he continues to play in Hot Tuna.
