PETE HUTTLINGER INTERVIEW #2

Pete Huttlinger 2 Interview

(Originally aired on August 22, 2013)

In addition to being an ace Nashville session player, Huttlinger is one of the most musical and technically advanced acoustic guitarists of our time. In his hands, a flattop becomes a mini orchestra as he juggles a tune’s melody, harmony, bass lines, and even percussion. Since winning the 2000 National Fingerpick Guitar Championship, Huttlinger has been featured in Guitar Player, Acoustic Guitar, Vintage Guitar, Guitar World Acoustic, Premier Guitar, and Fingerstyle Guitar magazines, and he has twice been invited to perform at Eric Clapton's prestigious Crossroads Festival.

Huttlinger's new album — McGuire's Landing — consists of beautifully composed and arranged instrumental and vocal pieces, several featuring string accompaniment, as well as a short novel. In our exclusive interview, Huttlinger describes writing and recording McGuire's Landing, and explains how the music forms a soundtrack to his book. We'll hear selections from McGuire's Landing throughout the interview.
