Joe Matera is lead guitarist in Australian pop-rock outfit Geisha. The group recently released a new studio album titled, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow which features old and new material including two brand new tracks produced by legendary US producer Tom Werman (Motley Crue, Cheap Trick, Twisted Sister). Prior to joining Geisha, Joe was a 20+ year veteran of countless original and covers outfits. His impressive playing CV also includes being the lead guitarist in the orchestra for award winning stage theater productions of Les Misérables and Chess.

Aside from Geisha, he also performs shows around Melbourne, Australia, playing and performing with the likes of some of Australia’s top musicians such as Tim Watson (Taxiride), Ash Naylor (Paul Kelly), Tim Henwood (Rogue Traders) and others. He also appears as guest guitarist on legendary UK metallers’ Atomkraft's scorching cover of Thin Lizzy's 'Cold Sweat'. One of his original guitar instrumental compositions, 'Starry Night' also appears on the soundtrack to the upcoming Australian movie Ricky!, due for release late in 2010. He is also currently writing and recording an EP, of which his new solo instrumental single ‘Travellin’ West’ is the first cut from the upcoming release.

He is also a respected music journalist whose work and many artist interviews appear in countless music magazines around the world such as Guitar World (US), Goldmine (US), Classic Rock (UK) and Chitarre (Italy) to name but a few.
